Shaun White Interview
MountainDew.com Profile
What was your favorite moment of this past season? What was
so special about it?
I think the best moment of last season was winning both pipe and slopestyle at
the Winter X Games. The year before I placed second in both events, and to
come back and win both really meant a lot to me.
Where did you travel this year? Was it for events or did you have some
vacation time?
Naw, no vacation time for me. But snowboarding for a living is kind of like a
year-round vacation. I traveled a lot this year. I went to Japan, New Zealand,
Europe, and all over America. I love going around meeting new people and
seeing new things, it's very cool.
What was your favorite event this year?
I would have to say Summer and Winter X Games, the Arctic Challenge, and
Slam City Jam were some of the best contests I went to this year.
What video game system(s) do you own?
Playstation 2 for sure. I don't think I would play on anything else. Plus,
they have all the dope games.
What is your favorite video game?
Definitely Hooter's Road Trip.
What type of movies do you like?
There are so many good movies out there that I would have to say I like good
movies.
What is your favorite movie?
Oh, tough call. There are so many to choose. Hmmm ... I can't think of one so
I am going to list off a few. Blo, The Professional, The Patriot, Braveheart,
Nightmare Before Christmas, School of Rock, Blade, Ernest Goes to Camp. Aight,
the list is too long.
Why do you live where you live?
I live in a cardboard box under the freeway. No, I live by the beach in
California. I think it is the best place to live because the weather is always
nice and there is always something to do.
What is your favorite place to ride? Skate? Surf? Snowboard?
Oh man, the triple threat question. How should I answer, what should I do. I
am just going to ignore the question and hope it goes away.
What do you drive? Is it tricked out or pretty standard?
I drive a wheelbarrow. I had it lowered so I can get better torque. I also
modified the suspension so when I am moving dirt I can handle the corners.
What's your favorite food?
Mexican.
Would you rather cook or go out?
I would rather have someone cook me something delicious. There is nothing
better than a home-cooked meal.
You have been in your sport for a while. What injuries have you sustained
and how did you do it?
Naw, I am injury free. But I am going to knock on wood after saying that. I
did hurt myself once, a long time ago. I collided with Bob Burnquist while
skating doubles on avert ramp. I broke both my arms, my foot, and fractured my
skull. But other than that, I am okay.
What kind of surgeries have you had?
I had some when I was a kid. But nothing since I started riding. I guess I
have been pretty lucky.
What are you doing to stay in shape for next season?
I have a pretty rigorous training schedule. It involves eating a lot of cake
and drinking lots of ice cream shakes. It's really hard, but somehow I make it
happen.
